The Helping Harbor Mission
Our Mission Statement
Our Mission is the protection and sustainability of the ONE world ocean including all of its inhabitants that live in and rely upon its health.
Our 4 cornerstones are Education, Marine Safety, Habitat Protection & Restoration, and Cooperation with all Marine Conservation Organizations.
Our team goal is to prevent mishaps before they happen by promoting clean and safe boating, sustainable fishing, and recreation of our precious and irreplaceable marine ecosystem.
Education
What is Environmental Education?
Environmental education is a process that allows individuals to explore environmental issues, engage in problem solving, and take action to improve the environment. As a result, individuals develop a deeper understanding of environmental issues and have the skills to make informed and responsible decisions.

Marine Safety
Marine Safety is a large part of our mission. We are active members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, volunteers for NOAA's Large Mammal Entanglement team, volunteers for the California Dept. of Fish and Wildlife's Natural Resource Program, and volunteers with the Oiled Wildlife Care Network.
We support these institutions with both manpower and boat facilities to promote safe boating practices, protection of the marine environment, and the safety for all who live in, rely off, or simply enjoy its beauty.
Habitat Protection and Restoration
There is only one world ocean and her health has been severely impacted by human interaction. We have use the ocean as a trash dump, and have over fished to unsustainable levels. Coral Reefs are dying. The oceans temperature and acidity is rising. Countless species are endangered, and many going extinct. The ocean's trophic food web that is vital to life on our planet is in jeopardy of collapsing which could lead to the extinction of many more species that rely on the ocean as their home or as a source of nourishment.
This is reversible, but we have to act now by cleaning up the trash, fishing in a responsible and sustainable way, and restoring where possible the habitats that we have destroyed.
Cooperation
The health of the ocean is a world problem, and only through cooperation with all government so can we solve these complex issues, and return our ocean to good health.
At Helping Harbor we commit to this spirit of cooperation by working with all conservationist to promote the fight for the health of the ocean, and her inhabitants.
